Alan and Itala's Wedding - Shooting Super 8 film in Otavalo, Ecuador

This past October I had the good fortune to attend the wedding of two very dear friends, Itala and Alan, which took place at a historic estate-turned-resort named Hacienda Cusin in the equally historic town of Otavalo, Ecuador. The wedding took place on Saturday afternoon, October 26, on the grounds, and everyone spent the entire weekend at the location. It was truly a destination wedding and an international gathering of people, with family and friends traveling from the U.S., Colombia, England and Scotland to join with everyone in Ecuador to celebrate the occasion.

As a photographer, I was excited to get to film a wedding in such a location, given the new trendiness of shooting wedding ceremonies on Super 8 film. I shot this on Agfachrome 200D film, a color reversal (i.e. slide) film. It’s not a good film to shoot indoors, especially in low light conditions. Fortunately the weather was gorgeous and sunny in the Andean foothills of Otavalo. Congratulations to my dear friends Itala and Alan - I hope this film brings you the same joy I had making it!
