Radiance Series: New Compositions

It's been a really productive May and June for me as far as creating art. I've been working through my "backlog" of film from 2017 and 2018 - reviewing the film, re-reading my old notes on what I wanted to with it back in 2017, reviewing the film again, coming up with new ideas, and then cutting and creating new pieces. However after creating new compositions I still have to do the hi-res scans, then color correct and clean those scans. Because I print large scale and detail is crucial in the final prints, the scan files are massive, usually 2 GB per raw scan, and 1 GB for print output. Of all steps in my artistic process, this is the most labor-intensive and the step that most resembles "work", but it's a crucial step because it ensures the work will look good when printed large.

In the past six weeks I've created more than 20 new compositions, each needing a scan and color color correction. In the last 4 days I scanned and cleaned all the new works and it's time to put them up, and start shopping them around in town! The first of these I'll be posting today are new compositions in the Radiance series.

Of all my work, the Radiance series seems to really resonate with people, so much so that it's my best selling series. The pieces are esoteric but inviting, and although they appear to be visually abstract on first glance, they actually have a lot of information and references due to the subject matter, the medium, their construction and even the presentation.

I hope you enjoy these new Radiance compositions. I'll be cross-posting these in the Radiance gallery here, if you'd like to see the entire series together.
